NovaTac EDC 120 Review - LumenJunkie

Novatac-EDC-120p.jpg

A review of the NovaTac EDC 120 programmable flashlight has been posted over at LumenJunkie.com. 'The head of this light is fairly long compared to the rest of the light. This is because it houses most of it's business parts. A polycarbonate lens with anti-reflective coating is held in place by a stainless steel bezelring, which has slight crenelations, so you can see if the light is on when you put it down business end first. The reflector has a light to medium orange peel structure, which does a really nice job of smoothing out the beam of the Seoul Semicontuctors LED. Out of sight behind LED and reflector, there's the electronics that make this little light do what it does.'

Review: Ultrafire WF-501B and Xnova LED Flashlights - Dan's Data

Ultrafire-WF-501B-and-Xnova-LED-flashlights.jpg

A review of the Ultrafire WF-501B and Xnova LED flashlights has been posted over at Dan's Data. 'The little Xnova is about 83mm (3.3 inches) long and about 22.5mm (0.9 inches) wide at its lamp end, and its body is made from lightweight aluminium. So it's a pretty easy light to carry around in your pocket. The Ultrafire WF-501B follows the standard pattern for small "tactical" flashlights. Black (of course!), tough looking aluminium body, clicky switch on the tailcap (you're meant to hold the light in your fist and press the button with your thumb). It's just small enough to fit, somewhat uncomfortably, in a front pants pocket.'

Review: PALM BLAZE K2 Luxeon LED Flashlight - Led Museum

PALM-BLAZE-K2.jpg

A review of the PALM BLAZE K2 Luxeon LED flashlight has been posted over at the Led Museum. 'This is a good looking, nice feeling 2xCR123A cell Luxeon K2 LED flashlight in an almost all aluminum case. The only non-metal parts visible from the outside are the rubberised pushbutton on/off switch, and the optic of the Luxeon LED.It features two light levels (high and low), and a blinking mode that is easily accessible regardless of which mode the flashlight is in (high, low, or off) when you wish to use it. Speaking of the Luxeon K2 LED, it's using what I believe is a Fraen collimator. This optic produces a relatively tight beam with a mainly square configuration (a circular centeral hotspot with a square corona).'

Review: Lil' Bratz Torch\Flashlight - Outdoor Idiots.com

Lil-Bratz.jpg

There is certainly nothing "idiotic" in the review of the inexpensive Lil' Bratz torch which has been posted over at Outdoor Idiots.com. 'It would be easy to dismiss this torch as being nothing more than a child's toy, but don't let first impressions fool you. The more we investigated it, the more we were impressed with its array of high tech features. This is a serious bit of kit. Here are some of the more noteworthy innovations we discovered: What, at first glance, appears to be a mere "switch" turns out to be far more than just that. It is, in fact, a Tactical ThumbswitchTM. Yes, tactical: that meaningless buzzword that has been slowly osmosing its way into the world of outdoor equipment over the last few years. Usually, its use causes us either alarm or despair. At last, though, we have found a device which warrants the use of the word. Here it is:'

Review: Harbor Freight Gordon LED Flashlight - WebBikeWorld

Harbor-Freight-Gordon-LED-Flashlight.jpg

The affordable Harbor Freight Gordon LED flashlight has been reviewed over at WebBikeWorld. 'When it arrived, I took it out of the package and looked it over. "Not bad", I thought. I couldn't tell from the photos on the Harbor Freight website, but for $4.99 I assumed it was all plastic. Nope, it actually has a pretty thick machined aluminum body with real machined knurling. O-rings seal the front and rear screw-off covers, the former holding the LEDs and the latter covering the battery carrier. There's a rubber(ish) covered on/off button at the end of the light and everything seemed like it was made with more care than could possibly be expected for the price. It didn't come with the three AAA batteries that it needs, but hey -- what do you expect for a fin? I scrounged up the relatively rare (around here anyway) triple A's and screwed the thing back together. '

FlareSafe: LED Flashlight Features Smoke Detection Utility

FlareSafe.jpg

The FlareSafe LED flashlight is a new product which was designed with an emphasis on safety. FlareSafe can be used as a stand alone flashlight but the device has a very important optical smoke detector as well as a distress alarm. The torch has three working settings: full beam, half beam (a reading light), and flashing. 'FlareSafe uses a specially-designed optical system to look for smoke. The smoke detector works when you arm the unit. To arm FlareSafe, simply twist the plastic cap at the back-end of the unit. This will pop up, exposing the detector underneath the cap. At the same time, you will hear a single BEEP sound – that tells you the unit is armed. When smoke enters the detector, the piercing siren on FlareSafe will sound and the torch light will automatically switch on. This allows you to immediately see the unit, grab it, and use the torch to find your way out.' The FlareSafe is priced over $80
